Clearing path back to normality

A dozen homes have been declared uninhabitable because of damage from Sunday's storm, but the overall assessment is that it could have been much worse. Greater Shepparton City Council chief executive officer Phil Pearce said yesterday given the strength of the storm and the sheer number of trees... Full Story

Storm brought out our best

There are two ways of looking at Sunday's storm. The pessimist would say it was horrific, and it caused enormous damage, disruption and distress. An optimistic view would be that nobody was killed or, as far as we know, injured. Simple mathematics tells you we were very lucky. Rather than look at... Full Story

» Mass with a difference A blessing mass will be held in Kyabram next month, but it won't be your usual Sunday at church. The third annual Motorcycle Blessing Mass will raise awareness about road safety, and all motorcycles and motorcyclists will be blessed on the day. The ceremony will be held at St Augustine's Catholic Church on Sunday, March 21 at 10.30 am. St Augustine's Parish priest Father Michael Morley said he was excited by the innovative approach to the ceremony and its success during the past two years. ``The Motorcycle Mass is designed to bring people from the community together, to enhance road safety initiatives and to make people aware that there are more motorcyclists on the road than ever before,'' he said. ``It's a great way for individuals with like interests to come together and celebrate their sport. ``We encourage motorcyclists and parishes around the diocese to attend.'' A Vintage Motorbike Show being run by Vintage Motorcycle Club of Victoria will also be a part of this year's mass, and will be held at Kyabram Town Hall in Bradley St from 9 am until 3 pm. A gold coin donation will be asked for a barbecue that will follow the mass. Tea, coffee and water will be supplied.
