Rain forecast for the weekend could close the resource gap in the Northern Victorian irrigation systems, paving the way for an early allocation on Monday.
While unable to reveal exactly how big a gap remained, Goulburn-Murray Water acting resource manager Mark Bailey said it had closed in recent weeks thanks to good rain in major catchments.
``We're very close too it, we're just finalising that assessment,'' he said.
``What I can say is it's a smaller shortfall than it was, but whether we've closed the gap, we're still assessing.''
