The Victorian Government has announced reforms to councillor conflict of interest legislation to ease the burden on councillors.
The changes increase the threshold for reporting gifts to $500 and exempts gifts that were received more than 12 months before a councillor assumed office.
Club membership will not by itself be grounds for conflict of interest and an `assembly of councillors' is refined to include advisory committees and planned or scheduled meetings involving at least half the councillors.
